I should warn you that the story are a bit complicated, since there’s a lot of different “worlds” in this one.
SAKASAMA NO PATEMA OST MOVIE
This anime is good for a night movie time with your family. If you’re wanted some “new” ish sci-fi setting, this is the one for you, it’s not the only one with this setting, but this is one of the better one out there. This is exactly the message of this anime, this is the message that this anime want to deliver to it’s viewers, so in my opinion, this song is truly a clever move from the lyricist. The music are amazing, the main OST with the same title, Sakasama no Patema, used fully Esperanto language, a language that designed from beginning to act as secondary language to break the barrier of language with one of the goal was to ease knowledge exchange. The animation fluidity are no problems, frames quality are stable across the 100 minutes long movie, and CG usage, albeit not much are of high quality. The arts are awesome, the dystopian city layout, both the underground, and Aegis, are right on spot for the story to take place, small details sprinkled here and there that viewers might not notice are there. (Choujin Koukouseitachi wa Isekai demo Yoyuu de Ikinuku you desu). Although there’s a bit rushed here and there, it’s negligible, if I should nitpick, then it would be the fact that I feel that the romance are looks like forced to be there, it feels unnatural… Back to the story itself, it’s simple, it’s straight forward, it’s good, no complaint there. I know the team made it this way to show us the perspective of these characters, but it’s too “real” that I got less enjoyment than I should’ve. I’m a bit disappointed since they really went totally inverted, so if I want to see the inverted character, I need to turn my screen upside down, or stretched my neck out and strained my neck in the process, not that it’s bad, but I would love to see some variations of angle taken. The story premises are rare and therefore intrigued me, I dived into this anime with a high expectations, the moment I got to see the 2 main characters met, I was intrigued, how will they carry on from now on. A chance meeting between these two curious teenagers leads to an exploration of two unique worlds as they begin working together to unveil the secrets of their origins. She later learn to know this new world named Aiga branded people like Patema as sinners who fall to the sky. Someday she stumbled upon a humanoid bats and accidentally fall off just to discover a boy named Age with his inverted world. The story revolves around Patema, an adventurous girl who wander through a massive maze like tunnels structures. Conclusion for TL DR at the end of the articles.
